Launch Party, MK@Westwood style!

Greetings from MK@Westwood!

We had our launch party for our entire centre on Monday, 3 April 2017. The music room was decorated with streamers and the SSDB mobiles to liven up the atmosphere. To pique children’s curiosity, we placed a huge cardboard box in the music room and got them to think of what they can do with the large box.

The answers they gave were full of imagination, one child mentioned how it can be made into a house! While another said they could crawl inside it and it becomes a hideaway!

We slowly unfold the project to them by allowing them to watch video on the story of Singapore/Sang Nila Utama,

followed by a video of shadow puppets.

There was fun quiz session where they had to answer questions about the video and get the SSDB stickers. Then, they were posed with the question of the purpose of showing the videos and having the cardboard box. Children were able to connect the 3 things and guessed that their project would be on doing a shadow puppet theatre using recyclable materials.

We explained that the entire centre would be involved in this meaningful journey, with the K1s doing the theatre stage and the K2s doing the puppets. They will then be putting up a shadow puppet performance in conjunction with our centre’s National Day celebration for their family members. They will need to buy tickets to see the performance and the funds will be used for a needy cause. They will also be putting up a performance at a children’s home or an orphanage to bring joy and laughter to their fellow children.

As closure of our launch party, children danced to “Chan Mali Chan”

and feasted on delicious and healthy fruit cocktails!

Now, the children are ready to embark on their SSDB journey together!

With love,

Mk@Westwood
