We rationed water for the day! (My First Skool @ 180B Boon Lay Drive)

Targeting one of the dangers that the penguins are facing, water pollution, we organized our first water rationing day on the 7th August 2017.

The children brought in a bottle of 500ml of water for hand washing and brushing of teeth. The children were excited and was able to adapt to this hand washing routine quickly.

During shower time, instead of using the taps and shower heads, we collected warm water in buckets and used scoop to shower. The children found this experience new and enjoyed it ver much. Most of them requested to try again soon.

They were also read the story, ‘Adventures of Water Wally’ where they were introduced to ways of saving water during their daily tasks. It prompted them to think and ponder back that it is important to conserve water and the importance of water is to the environment.

Throughout the morning, the children reminded each other to use their bottled water to wash their hands and used a minimal amount each time as they were told it has to last until nap time. We also took this chance to decorate our toilet with banners and posters to remind them constantly to save water in the various situations.

If we don’t save water, we don’t have water anymore and penguins also not enough! So we cannot waste water!
