Appreciating Our Foreign Workers and Water Conservation

We started our start small dream big project by having a discussion with the children on how they can give back to the community and to our mother Earth.

Since our theme in Term 2 was about building and construction and coincidentally, there’s a construction going on near our school, the children thought of giving back to the workers who are working hard to provide us better housing.

The family of these children willingly gave out donations like towels, biscuits and coffee to give out to the workers.

The children helped to pack the “goodie bags” while singing to the song… “We will Start Small Dream Big” in the tune of we will rock you.

“Buddy we’re the kids, we’re making big noise.

Dreaming something big,

We’re gonna be a help to you someday.

Start something small today

And continue everyday.

Working very hard till we make a difference.”

The children used recycled materials to make a beat while saying the lyrics.

Finally, the children went out to mingle and give out their small presents to the workers. It’s always a best idea to let the children learn how to appreciate others. -Especially the people who are helping to build our community.

We also tackled how to save water. During the school holidays, the children made scrapbook of how they save water at home. And when the school reopened, the children did a show and tell. Each of them were very excited to share what they did.
