President’s Challenge Start Small Dream Big 2018 serves as a platform for us to incorporate our Intergenerational programe with the elderly. This year we are getting our K2 kids to bring happiness, laughters and have fun with the elderly -Ah Gong(s) and Ah Ma(s) at Yew Tee Sparkle Care Blk 625. We also hope that the children will learn to show empathy, sympathy, love and care to these elderly as well as their own ah Gong and ah Ma at home.
We will be spending 20 sessions of one hour each with these Ah Gong(s) and Ah Ma(s) on every Friday at the elder care centre. Activities planned for the Ah Gong(s) and Ah Ma(s) will include morning exercise, games , music and movement, craft, karaoke and many. We will be launching SSDB on 4th May 2018 cum mini party. Parents of these children as well as the family members of the Ah Gong(s) and Ah Ma(s) will also be invited. Ah Gong(s) Ah Ma(s) and the kids will also be performing - 甜蜜蜜 (using musical percussions.)
Our first session was held on 6th April 2018. We have morning exercise, break the ice games whereby Ah Gong(s) and Ah Ma(s) identified their ‘ grandchildren’ . We also got the children to find out from Ah Gong(s) and Ah Ma(s) what is their favourite food they like to eat. We had a fruitful session with these Ah Gong(s) and Ah Ma(s). The children are looking forwards to their next appointment with their Ah Gong(s) and Ah Ma(s) .
