After the soft launch on 29 March 2018, we organised a planting day on 19 April 2018 to mark the start of our SSDB project.
Before the event, many parent volunteers came to school to help prepare our little plot of land for planting. We also invited Mr. Frankie, a volunteer from NParks, to share with us some tips on planting.
Under the hot sun, they helped to remove the weeds, loosen the soil and add on new soil to the plot. It was a lot of hard work, but everyone enjoyed the session.
On 19 April 2018, many parents came to join us for the launch party. The event was led by our two characters, “Love” and “Share”.
During the party, we were delighted to have Mr. Kelvin, a dance instructor, to lead the “L, O, V, E” dance along with 2 other parents. We had a great workout filled with love early in the morning.
Our Primary School leaders also came to officiate the event. They picked out a few meaningful messages written by our children and shared with us.
Then, we came to the last and most important part of the event, planting! Each child planted a seed that day to signify the start of their SSDB journey.
It was our kindergarten’s first and biggest planting project so far, and we looked forward to harvest the vegetables that we have planted.
