In Pentecost Methodist Church Kindergarten, we believe that our pupils are never too young to contribute to the community. Hence, we participated in this year SSDB project.
We decided to embark on “Sharing with the Less Privileged” project after observing that some pupils have difficulty parting with their possessions. This project was launched in April 2017 to encourage all our pupils, including pupils from the Pre-Nursery, to donate their outgrown footwear to benefit children in the third world countries.
We created the awareness on the importance of footwear by watching snapshots of the film “Home Run”. Discussions on how our pupils can help motivated them to give. We also discouraged them from pestering their parents to buy a new pair of shoes but to donate a pair of their outgrown but useable shoes.
Once the shoes were collected, parent volunteers helped to pack and deliver them to Soles4Souls.
Our pupils learned values such as giving and respect: the joy of giving and that each gift has to be in a useable condition.
Parents gave this project a thumbs-up!!!
