Phase 3: TRASH to TREASURE

Designing old recyclable materials to make new products that are functional or into art pieces is one of our SSDB’s objectives. Inspired by the story of the “Karung Guni Boy”, it awakens children’s awareness on conservation of resources.

In line with the theme of our Star Project “Flavours from the Little Red Dot”, the children explored the unique identity of Singapore and shared their knowledge and experiences on the various Places of Interest in Singapore.

The K1 and K2 children worked together to create these Places of Interest such as Sentosa, Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer, and the Singapore Zoo using recycled materials.

They made use of the scrape materials that were collected in our “Karung Guni Shop” to create their collage. Peer cooperation and support were widely observed during the activity.

To culminate this activity, the children displayed their wonderful art pieces which showcased their creativity and imagination in transforming TRASH to TREASURE!
