Our Garden City part 2

Our students embarked the SSDB journey as young botanists. They planted seeds with parents. Each day, they observed how the germination was taking place. They learned the plant growth, different parts of the plants and the needs for a plant to grow. They saw the flowers were blooming on chilli plant and brinjal plants and later changed to fruits. Uninvited guests like grasshoppers and caterpillar were came to visit our plants. They saw how teacher released the grasshopper to the open field. They saw how the caterpillar turned to a small moth. Children went to a nursery near our centre and saw different types of plants. They also visited Hort Park and learned about different types of plants, life cycle of hairy cucumber. They were excited to see many squirrels and bats on the trees. Teachers encouraged children to adopt a plant. Children took responsibility to take care of the plants at their home. They returned the plant after one week. Children made different items using plant parts and conducted a fund-raising exhibition. Parents bought items and generously supported us. The cash raised through this project will donate to president’s charity. We may have come to the end of our SSDB Project for this year but it is not the end of our learning journey. They learned to be more caring for plants and compassionate towards people around them.
