Little efforts of today, great harvests of tomorrow.

[Mid March]

In expanding and furnishing the school’s garden, children were gathered to experience the sowing of seeds and seedlings, whereby they learned about the organization and necessities involved in getting a full grown plant. Parents were invited to contribute plantation ideas and seeds for children to grow in the school’s garden. Additionally, a parent extended her support in leading a group of children in the settling and planting of seeds, in which she also guided them in ways to care for each.

New members of the garden include the chilli plant and ladies’ fingers, which are edible plants for children to reap and taste eventually.

The seeds were grown in used materials such as plastic bottle cuttings, plastic cups, and yogurt tubs. This strengthened the value of being considerate to the environment by recycling, instead of exhausting new resources. It also communicated creativity and exploration in giving new purpose and functions to things which are old.

Children will continue to care for the plants throughout and observe the changes. Let us anticipate the growth!
