In collaboration with SPCA for this project, for the past months, K2B (Perseverance) children have created awareness of showing responsible pet ownership by working together with their parents to create posters and other crafts showing acts of kindness. They have now entered another phase to show kindness to animals through active participation in helping to collect items and pet food needed by SPCA. With much anticipation, on 29 August 2018, five representatives with their mums and grandma, went on a trip to visit SPCA to hand over the donated items to them.
N1 (Joy) our little young children doing their part to donate to SPCA as well!

Old newspapers, towels, bedsheets and many more coming in….. Not forgetting the bags from SKM containing crafts created with ‘Thank You’ messages specially dedicated to the staff and volunteers at SPCA - showing much appreciation for their contribution at work!
K2B (Perseverance) - 5 representatives with mums and grandma ready to set off to SPCA on 29 August 2018 in the morning!
Thank you! Ms Ee Rong (in white, SPCA staff) for conducting the tour around the shelters!
Children were so excited to see the first cat with a lovely name ‘fishcake’….
Ms Ee Rong led the excited children, together with their mums and grandma into the dog shelter and conducted a brief talk on the profile of the dogs such as their personality.
Samrridhi got to experience having direct eye contact with the dog….SPCA song “Do you know that doggie in the shelter?” The one with the Take-Me-Home Eyes…..
Next, we proceeded to the Cats Shelter to enter the premises to have a close interaction with the cats.
Back to school, children did a post-trip sharing with their peers on what they experienced earlier in the morning…They were able to respond to their queries on how the shelter looked like, the quantity/type of animals they saw, what activities SPCA planned for the cats etc…Children were excited to view the pictures taken at SPCA and asked how they could get there to see for themselves if they were to go with their family….
Children did a reflection on the journal sharing what they liked or disliked about the project. And how else they could apply the knowledge learned.
We hope that through this project, it would provide a platform for children to demonstrate the skills, values and acts of kindness learned and apply them to relevant and real-world situations. And we have received positive feedback from parents/grandma who joined the trip - a very enriching experience to get to know the provision of care towards animal welfare by SPCA.
