Fundraising Carnival at Islander

Start Small Dream Big. Just like the name suggests, we embarked on a learning journey to raise awareness in our young learners that no matter how small our actions are, we will make a difference in the world! On this journey, we collaborated with MYCAT, a wildlife conservation organization in Malaysia, and worked with the children to find a way to support their cause in saving the Malayan tigers and other animals through reforestation. This project was in line with our inquiry on how all living things are inter-connected and how our actions can impact the environment.

In order to raise funds for MYCAT to conduct reforestation in Malaysia, Islander Preschool held its very first fund-raising carnival on 28th August 2018. The children and teachers brainstormed different ideas and came up with fun and exciting activities for the carnival. We had different stations such as the Food Hall, Islander Lumina, Art jamming, Art Auction, The Fishing Well and IslanderArcade.

Our N2&K1 children worked hard in helping to bake cookies and muffins as well as packing them in individual bags for sale at the carnival. During the fundraising carnival, the children also assisted in promoting and making sales at the stall.

In addition, in the weeks leading up to the carnival, the children worked on various art projects to create art pieces for a mini exhibition, the Rainforest Diorama.
