A quick stroll around PCF Canberra Blk 330 premises clearly shows that the fully air-conditioned facility is very well-kept and well maintained by the kindergarten staff. The facilities provided in the centre are well taken care of to ensure their optimum use and effectiveness in children’s learning.
Names of famous scientists such as Graham Bell and Dickens are hung in classrooms which the classes are named after. Like scientists, the children are encouraged to question so that they learn firsthand and are able satisfy their curiosity needs.
Playgroup to Kindergarten 2
PCF Canberra Blk 330 enrolls children from ages 3 to 6 which includes the playgroup, nursery, K1 and K2. For parents, who wish to enroll their child early and get them exposed with opportunity to explore at a younger age, both in and out of the classroom, this is the ideal place.
Premium Program
The kindergarten also offers ‘Thinking Caps’ which is a Premium program for K2 children. This program basically enhances what the kindergarten children in the normal program learn. Their learning is enforced with more exercises and activities based on the same curriculum. With this, their grasp and understanding on the similar subject is better. This premium program includes longer hours up to 8 hours in a day, which is great for parents who require longer care for their children during office hours.
Mother Tongue
The mother tongue languages provided here are Chinese, Malay and Tamil where it is being taught by specialized teachers. At the different mother tongue lesson venues, numbers, alphabets, shapes and colours are displayed on the walls in the mother tongue. Achieving fluency in reading, writing, understanding and counting in the mother tongue is the focus.
Parent Support Group (PSG) & Field Trips
Parent support is quite strong as parents render support and services to facilitate when going for field trips. Field trips include visits to Chinatown, heritage centers and arts museum where the children are exposed to more real-world experience. These ‘lessons’ outside the classroom would enables them to see for themselves what these treasures of our country has to offer. Understanding, acceptance and eventually respect to other cultures, races and religion would be the values that these children possess. This is especially critically in the multi-racial and cultural society we live in.
Educational Corners
The classrooms are divided into corners where different activities help the children achieve a more holistic education. The construction corner is equipped with soft, hard blocks and oddly-shaped puzzle pieces for the children to explore their building skills and ensures motor skills-development. Opportunities would be given for the children to be creative and explore the endless possibilities of their imagination.
The language and literacy corner is generally inter-twine with the library corners. The carpeted areas adjacent to the bookshelves are sitting areas for the children who are bookworms. The dramatic corner is where the children are to act out based on themes. The children are to dramatize what it’s like to be a cook or a waiter if the theme is food.
